- The optometrist’s role has expanded greatly in the area of surgical management. This course will consist of detailed discussion regarding both pre- and post-operative surgical patients. There will be focus on clinical considerations that should be made when referring a patient for surgery, as well as things to look for in the immediate postop period. There will also be focus on surgical strategies and techniques, as well as new surgical innovations.
