NEW COPE Activity Accreditation Process (beginning February 1, 2017)
STEP 1: Submit Pre-Application
Prior to starting the activity accreditation process, organizations are required to fill out a pre-application online to determine their eligibility to become a COPE Administrator. The pre-application will determine whether the organization is a commercial interest. Commercial interests are not eligible to become an administrator of COPE Accredited CE. Review of the pre-application takes approximately 3-5 working days. The administrator will be notified by email when they have been approved. NOTE: Organizations that are already approved COPE Administrators in 2016 will not have to fill out a new pre-application.
STEP 2: Submit Course(s) for COPE Review
The course review process and the requirements for course qualification are not changing. Courses can be submitted to COPE for review online by either the instructor or the COPE administrator (with the instructor's acknowledgement). Once qualified, courses will be valid for the following time period:
Live Courses: 1 Year Qualification Period Interactive Online Courses: 1 Year Qualification Period Enduring Online Courses: 3 Year Qualification Period Audio/Video Courses: 3 Year Qualification Period Written Courses: 3 Year Qualification Period
Starting in 2017 a COPE Event will be called a COPE Activity. Activity submission will be done online and will be similar to the current COPE event submission process, but some additional data will be required. COPE Activity Accreditation is a two-step process which requires submission of specific activity information for review prior to the activity (pre-activity accreditation form) and submission of additional information after completion of the activity (post-activity accreditation form).
